NATIVE FRENCH TEACHER FOR A MULTI-AGE CLASS (KINDERGARTEN/1ST GRADE/2ND GRADE)

Les Lilas is a small, welcoming school where friendliness, the joy of learning, and respect for others are mainstays of the community. We are looking for candidates who understand and appreciate each child's potential as unique individuals learning in a social context. Les Lilas is accredited by the French National Ministry of Education, from Pre-K through 3rd grade.

Main responsibilities:

  • Teach school program in accordance with current educational standards.
  • Create an inclusive and stimulating learning environment for students.
  • Encourage academic, social, and emotional development of students.
  • Collaborate with other faculty and administration to improve the overall educational experience.
  • Integrate Montessori teaching methods when possible and appropriate.

Requirements:

  • Have public or private school experience.
  • Teaching experience in a primary school.
  • Montessori experience is strongly desired.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work as a team and contribute to a collaborative work environment.
  • Commitment to students' well-being and development.
  • Develop and maintain a strong home-school partnership by engaging in open and collaborative communication with parents and families, and by encouraging families' involvement in their child's learning.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of a diverse group of multi-lingual students.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in bilingual education and/or in international schools is an asset.
  • Knowledge of principles of child development and developmentally appropriate teaching practices.
  • Enthusiastic teacher who will be able to engage elementary school students.
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate in a positive and constructive manner with teachers, support staff, parents, and students.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to plan, manage, and evaluate curriculum.
  • Ability to differentiate teaching methods to support a diverse group of learners and conduct developmentally appropriate qualitative assessments.
  • Willingness to learn from peers and mentors, commitment to professional development, and implementation of new teaching practices with support.
  • Fluency in English is an asset but is not necessary.
