PIERRETTE CARON
Volunteer Librarian
Pierrette grew up speaking both English and French in Montréal, Québec. In 1991, she received her bachelor’s degree in math and computer science and moved to Redmond to be a computer engineer at Microsoft working on Word.
After leaving Microsoft, she volunteered at KCLS’s Kirkland library working closely with the librarians. She learned a lot from them. When her children were at FISW, she ran the library as a volunteer for ten years using her computer skills to completely transform the library by growing it, organizing it, and adding an online catalog.
Pierrette met Virginie at FISW in 2005 and stayed in touch with her over the years. In 2019, Virgine invited her to see Les Lilas. Pierrette saw the library and decided that she could help. She’s using her experience to shape this library as well. She’s excited to see the collection grow, making it easy to use for teachers and students.
Pierrette lives in Bellevue with her husband and her cat. She has two sons in their twenties. One currently lives at home with his wife and is applying for medical school, and the other is studying vocal performance at WWU.
Do you have a favorite hobby?
I love to bake. The first thing I baked as a child was a muffin recipe. This is still my favorite. When I want to impress my American friends, I make a French Normandy pear tart, a French yogurt cake, or a French chocolate mousse.
